Second Annual Cello/Bass Ensemble Festival: Saturday May 13, 2022
Registration is NOW OPEN for our Second Annual NC-ASTA Cello Bass Day.  We are excited to have UNCSA faculty Paul Sharpe and Brooks Whitehouse on-board as our clinicians for this event!  We hope to have 100+ students and teachers PERFORMING in May.

NC-ASTA Solo Competition:  We are looking for an NC-ASTA member(s) who might be interested in reviving our annual NC-ASTA Solo Competition.  Please e-mail us if you are interested in taking this on.

NC ASTACAP: ASTA Certificate Advancement Program.(ASTACAP). Students are judged in a non-competitive environment on technical & musical preparedness at specific levels (Foundation Level – Level 10)

NC-ASTA is always looking for members interested in hosting ASTACAP exams anywhere in NC.  Please contact Bill Slechta at and/or Nancy Bargerstock  if you would be interested or to get more information.  We would especially like to get an ASTACAP site in the Triangle area.  Please see the ASTACAP page on our website (NC-ASTACAP exams).


Fourth Annual NC-ASTA All-State String Orchestra Festival:  October 14-15, 2022

Postponed until 2022 Unfortunately due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the rise of the Delta variant we have to push this event to 2022. We are excited to announce that this year’s Conductor and Clinician is internationally renown composer and  educator Doug Spata.

We are currently looking for a school who would be willing to host this event. If you are interested please reach out to Aaron Craven: aaroncraven@fcds.org

This clinic is open to all students in grades 5-12 who are sponsored by current NC-ASTA members. Sponsors will be asked to provide their membership number at registration.
